Mesopotamia

In May and June, Mr. McGuinness came to our class room and talked about Mesopotamia. They were the first civilization. They lived in the Fertile Cresent. We learned about their clothing, how they lived, the kings, their gods, and their inventions. The mesopotamians invented the wheel, lever, inclined plane, pulley, government, and a system of counting and education.

The Land Of The First

The Mesopotamian people made lots of stuff for use like the wheel for example. If they did not invent this stuff our life would be a lot harder and you would not like it. They made the ramp and the first codes of laws. We made clay tablets out of construction paper. We even got to learn about their writing. We also read an article about cities and other things. We all picked out our articles for Mesopotamia. We all read our articles and made something to go with our article. The next day we all brought in our projects and set our classroom up like a museum to share with our classmates. Mr. McGuinness taught us the most about Mesopotamia and showed us movies about the people of Mesopotamia. We learned a lot from him. He taught us that gold was worth less money than steel. It was fun. Checkers was one of the most popular inventions that Mesopotamia made. Once they were finished with work, they would go play games and dig for clay. Zigguarts were their biggest buildings because they could go and pray in them. Only rich people own one. Zigguarts were as tall as 40 feet and hundreds of people came to them to worship the gods. They thought the Zigguarts connected heaven and earth.
